In cities like Chittagong, where annual rainfall is high, rainwater could meet a significant amount of total demand. Due to maladaptation to the paradigm of extraction of groundwater without considering the sustainability, people in are still reluctant to use this abundant source. In addition, the surface water condition of peripheral rivers of Chittagong city is in poor condition, which does not encourage increasing use of surface water in Chittagong city. As an alternative of these options, rainwater harvesting has been considered though majority of the users are not fully aware of its potential to become a source of water. Analysis of the catchment availability and size of storage tanks are needed to find the potential of rainwater harvesting in the building and the capacity of buildings to store rainwater and use it. Four selected buildings of Chittagong area are taken in the purpose of case study. To check the technical feasibility and potentiality of rainwater as alternative water source, ARC method is taken to measure the maximum capacity of storable water and size of storage tanks are determined by both Sizing Formula and Ac-Vc relation method. With respect to available storable water, demand satisfaction is also measured to check feasibility of the system.

This study aims to find out the causes for an increase in the number illegal E-taxis and the extent of these vehicles in the municipalities of Bangladesh. Based on extensive literature review and field investigation, a set of questionnaires was developed to explore the actual causes for an increase in the number of illegal E-taxis, where ten predicted hypotheses were tested. The result proved that the illegal E-taxi is very active in the study area. Besides the socio-economic condition of the commuter, education level of taxi drivers and commuter satisfaction level (safety and comfort) and provision of continuous and door-to-door service system are the main causes for increasing number of E-taxis in the municipality of Bangladesh. Moreover, this study provides an effective thinking on socio-economic condition of drivers and the legalization of illegal E-taxis in the study area

The numbers of “Three-wheeler” (locally known as “Auto”) are increasing quickly and has turned into the most prevailing urban transport mode in the districts and developing town focal point of Bangladesh. In any case, an excess of import of this vehicle represents a huge weight on the power supply and urban traffic management system of this country. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interaction of socioeconomic condition and driving behavior of Auto drivers toward the design of a safe and efficient traffic and transportation management system. The main objective of this study is to to present the effect of different driving behaviors and socioeconomic condition of Auto drivers on traffic flow system for the town center of Pabna municipality. To achieve the objectives of this study, a direct interview survey was conducted from 50 Auto drivers to determine how individual differences and individual responses to driving conditions cheap driving behavior. This study reveals that in this municipality the number (3500) of Auto vehicles is increasing day by day for low price, less noise, and safety.62% driver response that the competition between them in making more trips to support their family are the main causes of traffic rules violation and traffic congestion. Finally, it was shown through correlation analysis between the socioeconomic condition and with the different driving behaviors of Auto drivers. The results of correlation analysis are in good agreement with the general views of respondents and it shows that the socio-economic condition and driving behaviors of Auto drivers are interdependent to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow for an urban area.

Intensive traffic flow has become a common scenario in almost every city of Bangladesh which creates severe traffic congestion that brings speechless woe for citizens. This situation challenges transportation planners and engineers to cope with providing sustainable traffic management strategies. From this realization, this study is conducted to analyze traffic intensity variation in major intersections of a secondary city in Bangladesh. Traffic volume Survey, Spot Speed study and Landuse pattern analysis were the main methodological approaches to conduct the study. The data collected were analyzed through the use of ArcGIS 10.3 and statistical computer packages. The study reveals that the flow of vehicles increases on roads during the summer season and normally vehicle’s speed tends to decrease significantly at noon and evening indicating serious traffic jam. It also explores that land-use pattern has a great impact on the variation of traffic intensity within the city. This study tries to express the effects of these variables on traffic intensity variation to support the future planning of sustainable traffic management strategies for municipalities with similar profiles.
