This paper intends to explore development trend of Tejgaon industrial area mainly from land use perspective. Based on plot level data it studies existing land value, ownership pattern of 430 plots of Tejgaon industrial area. Structure type and height on these plots, floor wise space uses are also analyzed. Development trend of Tejgaon Industrial area is investigated by means of information like growth of major land uses in this area, change in land use pattern, structure type and structure height within the plots, change in ownership pattern and land value. This research can act as a base line study for future development plan related to the study area.

This study intends to delineate flood vulnerability on city scale and represent it through exposure and vulnerability index mapping. It is a known fact that climate change is gravely endangering several coastal areas of Bangladesh. Moreover due to rapid growth of population and urbanization rate in Bangladesh the cities are perceived to be greatly threatened by different natural events. Recent studies at local level shows that city structures are becoming vulnerable to different climatic events like flooding due to the causes of frequent heavy rains, improper drainage systems and hampering the natural flow of water with increased impervious surfaces. Moreover the socioeconomic status of people is causing more exposure to such hazards. Thus a proper and quick assessment of city scale vulnerability of such events is necessary. GIS and Remote Sensing techniques can help represent such level of extensive data at city scale and help analyzing to derive the vulnerability index (VI). This paper describes a methodology for using indicators to compute VI which is aimed at assessing the conditions which influenced by multiple criteria’s at various spatial scales. The methodology developed distinguishes different characteristics at each identified spatial scale, thus allowing a more in-depth analysis and interpretation of local indicators. The final results are presented by means of a standardized number, ranging from 0 to 5, which symbolizes comparatively low or high vulnerability between the various spatial scales.
